Things that I forgot to mention

Through out the course of any given week a thought will cross my mind or something will happen and I will think to myself "man I should really make sure I put that on the blog" or "wow that would be a good blog post" but then life as it always does gets in the way, and I forget.

With the end of the year fast approaching (can you believe that?)  I figured I could just take all of those little things and make one big giant post, well maybe two we will see how the first one goes.

So here are some things in no particular order

New Car- We got a new Car in July during a trip to Fresno. My good old Chevy was on its last legs and was fast approaching its death. The air conditioning had not been working for over a year, and the poor thing couldn't even go over 50 MPH anymore. I was a little sad to see it go, for a about a minute. Kurtis's brother Keith got us a great deal on a 2012 Ford Fusion, which I am in love with. It is safe, has working air conditioning, and gets great gas mileage. It's pretty too.

Family Trip- Right after we bought the new car we broke it in by driving up the central coast to Cambria to spend a weekend with my family. It was really wonderful spending time with my Grandma, Mom, Aunt ,Great Aunt and Cousins. The trip was much needed as it feel during the craziness following the relaunch of Disney California Adventure which Kurtis and I both put a lot of blood (from blisters) sweat (from working in the heat) and tears (crazy guests, 50 plus hour work weeks, and again those blisters.) Kurtis was even able to get some golf in with my cousin, and uncles. And we made sure we stopped by Hearst Castle!

The Team and Team cheerleaders

Canoe Races- Every year for the last 50 or so years Disneyland Cast members take to the Rivers of America and in the wee small hours of the morning before all of the guests are in the park we race the canoes around Tom Sawyers Island. It is a ton of fun for all of the cast members and we all get super competitive, because it is not only Resort cast members but Studio and Imagineering as well. I did not race this year but Kurtis did! His team made up of Guest Control leads and Trainers, survived all of the semi-finals and made it to the top four and eventually won the Sprint Races, I was so proud. He had a great time and it was a wonderful way to end his time as a Disney Cast Member.

Day of Thanks

Thanksgiving used to be my favorite  holiday, but somewhere along the way it became less about the family and more about which recipe is better,how many houses we can hit up and when can we collapse into our own beds...
This year I went with a "screw it all I am just going to do what I want." And let me tell you it was awesome. 
I made the  turkey and some gluten free stuffing(not good) and pecan pie (yum ) and we had a pretty chill day in Fresno.
The weather was perfect for fall.There was a chill in the air and lots of beautiful autumn leaves and because I got a new phone I lost all of the photos I took. So just use your imagination.

We are back from our cruise adventure, I promise I will post more about it later.

Like the rest of the world I am feverishly re watching Downton Abbey Season 1 and prepping for season 2. If you don't know what I am talking about kindly take your self to the nearest computer or Netflix and spend the next day watching it because Downton is Ahmazing!

The afternoon show

Make sure you watch The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight because you just might see me clapping as hard as I can in the audience. It was a really fun experience and I am very glad that we did it. We saw Jenna Fischer

who was funny and adorable she spent the whole time talking about bathrooms, and
Cloris Leachman,

who was a hoot! Kurtis was excited for the band 3 doors down , we sat very close to them and not a free cd for being pretty.

So Much fun, I can't wait to do it again! Except for that waiting for 3 1/2 hours outside that was not so fun.

ViVa La Revolution

Kurtis and I are really big fans of Jamie Oliver and we love his show the Food Revolution. We are all about trying to eat healthy,and cook from scratch.

One of the goals Jamie had in the last season of his show was to introduce "healthy fast food." He worked hand in hand with a local burger joint in LA called Patra's. When we found out that this place was with in driving distance of our house we decided to check it out.

So on our way home from Fresno last weekend we stopped by.
We each got a Revolution burger which is about 450 calories each (yay!) They were so good!!

We also met the owner whose name is Dino,he took our order and was really nice. Kurtis and I were really excited and a little star struck because we were talking to someone who was on TV.
We can't wait to go back again.

Sleep Over Part two

I love my Dad, really he is so sweet but just like all Lafons sometimes he is not the best with directions.

My Alandad drove from Norman to Oklahoma City to meet us all at Aunt Jenny's in Tulsa which is about a 2 hour drive if you are going the speed limit, but only an hour and a half if you rock it Lafon Style and drive 90 miles per hour. Dad left OKC at 3pm and arrived in Tulsa at 7:30pm why the delay you ask? Well he missed an exit and ended up in Kansas. But all is well he arrived in time for refrigerator dinner and peach cobbler.

He also brought these beauties, which if you can't tell are little birds. My Dear Grandpa used to make them to give as gifts and my Dad made some for the 10 so they can always have a little piece of him.

Lafon term of the night: Refrigerator dinner : Definition when 25 hungry people form a line and pick there dinner out of the refrigerator,you have to eat what you pick even though you may go last and only get baked beans and an egg roll. And by the end of the night the fridge must be empty. Repeat one night a week and you will always have an empty refrigerator.

P.S. I miss this guy a freaken ton ! P.P.S. Sleeping on a cot in a room with 6 other girls is super fun but this gal is so ready to come home.

I can hear the bells

There is something so charming about small towns. Norman Oklahoma is a pretty small tow. Everything in Norman revolves around Oklahoma University (Boomer Sooner.) The thing that I love about Norman is the church bells. I can hear them from my bedroom window and it is quite lovely. They just chimed 10 pm.

Random Oklahoma Fact: Oklahoma is known as the "Sooner State" in fact during most football games you will see a "sooner schooner" driven across the field. The nickname comes from the land run of 1889. Settlers flocked to the state line of the then Oklahoma territory. At a certain date after midnight settlers could come across the territory line and claim up to 160 arches of land. So of course thousands of people lined up on the territory line to wait for the signal. But as my dad puts it
"well some people just came sooner so that's why it's called the sooner state."
So the state nickname came from a bunch of cheaters.
And that is all I have to say about that.

Oklahoma Okay

"Oklahoma where the wind comes sweepin' down the plains..."

I landed in Oklahoma safe and sound and am now chilling out with my Alandad trying to get my body used to this central time zone.

The trip here had these high lights. Nine that is right I said Nine sweet excited missionarys going home(flight from LA to Salt Lake City), also on the same flight was a woman with two sweet little dogs, the best part was when she handed them over to the missionaries so she could go to the bathroom. Second highlight would be the pizza bagel that I had at the SLC airport(yum and I was so hungry) and the best part of my trip was the empty exit row that they let me move into Hooray for leg room!

Night Y'all

Seattle when it drizzles part duex

As promised here is a recap of our trip to the great state of Washington.

We arrived on Sunday February 13, the sun was shining and it was so beautiful. We spent the day hanging out with Kurtis's big brother Kreig and then Fiance and now wife Raquel. We ate pizza, got See's candy and did some last minute errands to get ready for their big day.

Kurtis and I met up with his mom to check out the Space Needle. Kurtis lived in Washington for a few years while he was a teenager so all of this sightseeing was done for my benefit. The view from the top of the space needle was really amazing, we could see all the way to Canada.I do however have one complaint.It cost's 18 bucks to take the trip up the elevator to the top, to soften the blow they give you this cheesy digital photo.

Washington really is a beautiful state, it is so lush and green and covered with trees. That being said, while I love the rain I also love me some California sunshine so while I can't wait to visit Washington again but I don't think I'll be moving there any time soon.

Monday morning was overcast and rainy, but the hubster and my Mother in law and I drove down to downtown Seattle to check out Pike's Place Market. Can I tell you how much I loved this place, I really did try to convince it to pick up and move to Southern California, I told Pike's Place how much it would love the sun, but Pike's place decided to stay in the rain.

We ate so much good food. My two favorite things we're this Crab cocktail and the best Scallop Chowder at Pike's Place Chowder. We saw the famous gum wall, but we were to grossed out to touch it!

We also found the Temple and took a little romantic walk in the rain. Because after all it was Valentines days

Then we headed to the Renton Courthouse for the small wedding. I love weddings especially those of people that I love, it was so nice to see Kreig and Raquel so Happy.

Afterward there was a lot of well wishing and picture taking, and Kurtis found a Gavel to play with. Soon after we were on our way home and fell into bed.

All in all it was a great trip and I am so glad that we went. The only downside is that I think we brought home some Washington rain with us.

Trying my best to overcome my fear/hatered of flying and trying to stay dry because it is supposed to rain ALL WEEKEND. Maybe I'll bring some of my California sunshine, but more then likely it wont work and I'll spend my time watching people catching fish at Pikes Place market and wondering around trying to find vampires who sparkle.
