Sometimes you just have to write

Isn't it funny that it is almost Thanksgiving, and after Thanksgiving is Christmas and then it will be 2012 which to me is just crazy.

October really wasn't a great blogging month for me- Just to recap for the Thursday before Halloween we hit up Disneyland for a few hours with the Smith's and the Guymon's and then took off to Knott's Berry Farm for the Halloween Haunt. This was our first time at Knott's and it was pretty crazy. I guess working for Disney has made me a little bit of a safety freak and there were a few times when I looked at Kurtis and screamed "I am going to die." But I didn't. We did have a lot of fun but I don't know if we will be going there again anytime soon.

We also got a visit from the hubs brother and sister in law and our super nieces. It was so much fun being able to spend time with them and do some rides with them at Disneyland.

Kurtis has been working hard at school and I have been working hard at work and that's about all that's been going on here.

One year

Just about a year ago the hubs and I packed everything that we own including Audrey into our car and a tiny trailer and drove about 4 hours to the south to start our new life.

I remember praying with my family before we left that tiny apartment were we had lived as newlyweds and bawling when we drove by my childhood home and then bawled even more when I stopped by Roger Rocka's to say good bye to my coworkers who had been a second family to me over the last 10 years.

I was terrified and excited.

A year later I am still terrified and excited.

We have come to love our little town of Fullerton. We love Orange County and all the things that there are to do. I love my job and have a lot of exciting opportunity's there. Kurtis is kicking law schools butt. We have made so many wonderful friends I could do a whole post about all the times that they have made me laugh and cry and all the joy they have brought to my life.

Sometimes I am still homesick, for my family the theater, and me-n-ed's pizza.

This last year has had it up's and downs, there have been months when I was wondering if we could pay our rent, and we were so poor we couldn't afford a Christmas Tree, I have eaten more ramen and PB&J then I have since I was a toddler. But we have been blessed too, sometimes more then I think we deserve.

Looking back on that day that we left home, I wish I could tell that couple that everything would work out okay, that you will make great friends, find a job, and have a great park across the street. That law school is hard work but it makes your husband so happy that it is worth it. And to make sure you set money aside because the vacuum cleaner will break and Audrey will get fleas and ticks.

The afternoon show

Make sure you watch The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight because you just might see me clapping as hard as I can in the audience. It was a really fun experience and I am very glad that we did it. We saw Jenna Fischer

who was funny and adorable she spent the whole time talking about bathrooms, and
Cloris Leachman,

who was a hoot! Kurtis was excited for the band 3 doors down , we sat very close to them and not a free cd for being pretty.

So Much fun, I can't wait to do it again! Except for that waiting for 3 1/2 hours outside that was not so fun.

Why We Love The OC

(Newport Beach on Easter)

I totally meant to do this post about 2 months ago so it's a little late, but better late then never. We have been living in Orange County for almost 9 months folks and while there a are a few things that we miss from Fresno (our family and friends) we are loving life here ! Here is the list of things that we LOVE about living in Orange County.

1) The weather! It really is amazing, during the winter I missed the fog a tiny bit. And it is a tad more humid here. But on a whole it is usually between 60-70 degrees and it is beautiful. The land is green and lush, lately we have been getting a lot of rain at night which is awesome.

2) The people. We have been so blessed to make such wonderful friends here. Many of the people in our ward are young couples like us, who are transplants like us, it has been so great to be able to meet so many different people. The family that we do have down here is awesome, as well as the new Disney family that I have created as well.

3)Ocean- enough said. We do not go to the beach every week or even every month, but it is so beautiful when we do go.

4) Food and Things to do: The nice thing about living in a metropolis is that there is always something to do. We love to go to the farmers market, and when we can afford it check out good food places.

5) Albertsons: I like this grocery store.

6) Frozen Yogurt: There is a ton of it down here.

7) Health: Kurtis and I have noticed that we have been healthier this year, I did not have my winter death which I usually get. We have decided that it is because the air is slightly better here then it is in Fresno.

8) Disneyland

There are lots of things that we miss about Fresno, Our moms, Volleyball Thursdays, Brothers and Sisters -in-Law, cute nephews and necies who seem to have doubled in size every time we see them. Roger Rocka's and my box office people, Me-n-ed's and Charlotte's bakery. Not having to worry about traffic, and cheaper rent!

frogs and crickets and midwinter nights

It's to early to be in class today.

It was so windy that I just had to stop and get some hot chocolate to warm me up.Seriously has anyone been outside yet, I feel like Piglet in Winnie the Pooh and the blustery day.Anyways....

I have frogs that live outside my window. They must because right as I decide to go to bed they decide to start singing their sweet frog song that slowly lulls me to sleep. In my mind its a boy frog and a girl frog talking about their day and saying their good nights.

The two lover frogs reside in the old Fullerton dam which is overgrown and kind of lovely and it right next to my apartment complex. I've seen some little rabbits, birds and of course I hear the frogs and crickets at night. Who would have thought? Its like my own little forest a mile from the freeway. I mean really which would you rather hear? The sweet noises of frogs or the nasty freeway noise?
okay time to pay attention now.

I heart the OC

K and I checked out the Fullerton Arboretum on Thursday and it was pretty awesome.

Arboretum is a fancy pants word for garden and boy oh boy this is a garden. The arboretum is 26 acers of awesomeness. It is located on the Cal State Fullerton campus and it's free! The garden paths wanders through four different gardens. All with a darling historical house in the center.

The herb garden is amazing and the whole place smells like oranges, which to me smells like California Sunshine. We even picked a few right off the tree and had our selves a little snack. We also loved walking through the redwood trees which reminded us of Northern California.

I love finding little hidden treasures like this! I can't wait to come back with my camera and a picnic!
