Kurtis graduated from Law School, I was very proud and a little overwhelmed . I am so proud of him and all of the hard work that he has done over the last three years.

One year
Just about a year ago the hubs and I packed everything that we own including Audrey into our car and a tiny trailer and drove about 4 hours to the south to start our new life.
I remember praying with my family before we left that tiny apartment were we had lived as newlyweds and bawling when we drove by my childhood home and then bawled even more when I stopped by Roger Rocka's to say good bye to my coworkers who had been a second family to me over the last 10 years.
I was terrified and excited.
A year later I am still terrified and excited.
We have come to love our little town of Fullerton. We love Orange County and all the things that there are to do. I love my job and have a lot of exciting opportunity's there. Kurtis is kicking law schools butt. We have made so many wonderful friends I could do a whole post about all the times that they have made me laugh and cry and all the joy they have brought to my life.
Sometimes I am still homesick, for my family the theater, and me-n-ed's pizza.
This last year has had it up's and downs, there have been months when I was wondering if we could pay our rent, and we were so poor we couldn't afford a Christmas Tree, I have eaten more ramen and PB&J then I have since I was a toddler. But we have been blessed too, sometimes more then I think we deserve.
Looking back on that day that we left home, I wish I could tell that couple that everything would work out okay, that you will make great friends, find a job, and have a great park across the street. That law school is hard work but it makes your husband so happy that it is worth it. And to make sure you set money aside because the vacuum cleaner will break and Audrey will get fleas and ticks.

Awesome not Awesome
Awesome
1. Kurtis made Law Review which is a pretty big stinkin deal and should probably get its on post, but I'm way to lazy.
2.Pop Pilates, really you should check it out, I am pretty much in lurve.
3.Sonic drinks. There food pretty much sucks but I would walk 100 miles for Ocean Water.
Not Awesome.
1. Tower went down last night at about 7:30, all 3 shafts and guess who was sitting at control for 2 hours with one of the park big wigs behind them... This gal right here.
2. Seriously the power flickered then died and started killing off the other attractions in DCA and then power outages in Downtown Disney made for a really not awesome night. Cranky guests +power outages = snarky Whit

One year down two to go
This Wednesday Kurtis takes his last law school final as a 1-L.
I can not believe that this year has gone by so fast I just hope that the next two years do as well.
I am so excited for summer Kurtis and I plan to spend any free time that we have (which wont be much) at the beach.
So here's to me and my hubby for making it through the first year of law school. We learned how to live on $30 a month, and a ton about criminal intent, how to write like a lawyer, negligence and torts. Hooray for the Urien's we passed.

And it's finals

This week is reading week, which is when the law school stays open until midnight and the students get a little cooky.
Next week is the start of finals, good luck to my hubby! And to me as well since I have to live with him for the next week and a half. We are living by this motto in out house. Also I found this on ETSY and I think it would go well in my house.

Chicken or Beef

Sometimes a gal just needs to get all dressed up and go to a ball. So I did.
Last night was the Barristers Ball an annual event that Western State throws, there is dinner dancing , debauchery and awards. Honestly the best part was watching Kurtis's Dean show his freaky side on the dance floor.
The food was yummy and very fancy, my fillet was awesome. The location was the Los Coyotes country club they even had free valet, note to self remember to clean out all of the Taco Bell wrapers from the car before going to fancy pants country club. But hey it was free right?

The best part of the night (beside Dean Adams getting down) was Kurtis getting the Witkin award for the highest grade in Torts ! We snapped a few pictures and took the rest in the sweet photo booth that they had.

Sometimes you just need a day off
I'm giving myself one today. It is 8am and I am supposed to be in my writing class. But I'm not. I'm at Starbucks on State Collage eating a chocolate croissant and drinking a hazelnut steamer (like a latte but just steamed milk and flavor. So yummy) I'm reading about confidentiality for my legal ethics class which is actually really interesting to me.
Work has been so busy and I am looking forward to the end of "spring break" in a few weeks. I might need two or three days of sleep to recover.
This weekend we are going to the Barristers Ball I got this hot little number to wear. It is basically like Law school prom and I am expecting to see a lot of Kurtis's class mates get trashed while I dance my butt off and eat a yummy dinner. I can't believe that his first year is almost over, there is about 2 more weeks of normal classes then they start finals prep, reading week, and then the week of torture where I become a widow. It will all be over by May 18.
I loved General Conference and I'll be posting about that soon.

I am greatful for
Today I am grateful for Orange juice and Benedryl.

With the help of those things hopefully I can get over this cold and also great through finals for me and midterms for Kurtis... Hopefully. Until then I am going back to bed.
P.S Kurtis went to this fancy pants entertainment law thing at Southwestern Law school in LA on Saturday he met all of these famous peoples lawyers. They said that they spend most of their days reading gossip sites to make sure their "talent" is staying out of the news. Sounds like a job I would be good at!

How Cool is that?
Yesterday while I was spending some quality time with Teagan and Elle also known as "The Super Nieces." Kurtis got to go to a symposium at Chapman university featuring Elder Dallin H. Oaks ! How cool is that? I think that it is and I was a little jealous that I couldn't go. Kurtis said that the moment that Elder Oaks began to talk he could feel the whole feeling of the room shift.
Elder Oaks talked about the importance of religious freedom in our society and how the law reflects it. If you want to read about his talk go here.

Can I just tell you
Can I just tell you how much my husband rocks? Well he does! Kurtis has always been one of those really annoying people who never have to study for anything and still get an "A." Apparently that trend is continuing through Law School. He got his grades back and lets just say he rocked this last semester. In fact he did so well that other schools are going to try to steel him.
I guess it goes like this- at WSU if you do well they want you to stay so in order to stop you from transferring to a better rated school they will offer you all kinds of perks like study abroad or a summer fellowship.
It is true, we did think about leaving Southern California and all of its amazingness for Provo and BYU Law, but after a day we decided that California is just so much better. So Kurtis is looking at some other law schools in Southern California that are within driving distance because I'm not moving. Or maybe he will stay at WSU and see what they offer. Who knows! I am just so happy that he passed his classes and I get to have him for two more weeks before he dives back into the books for his second semester.

Small Announcment
I am....

Going back to school. I start on Monday and I am super excited. I am doing a two year corse in paralegal studies so I can finally understand what the heck Kurtis is talking about. Hopefully I should be able to complete in under two years. So wish me luck folks as I head back to school.

New Living Room
Last Saturday I drove my self over to the Home Depot to buy some paint, tape, paper, rollers and all of the other usual necessities for painting. I then came home and created this masterpiece!
Picture Gallery style a la Pottery Barn

Blurry picture of shelf with wedding candle holders

I know that my sofa looks a little worn; and truthfully it is but it is so comfy cozy, and I love that the slipcover only costs $11.00

And last but not least... these are not part of the decor but I felt it was important to document all of the books that Kurtis takes to school with him.

I am really not a painter and also I'm not that crafty though I would love to be. But I felt like I did a pretty good job. And to make it even better Kurtis really likes the color. So much actually that we have also painted our dinning area the same color. Pictures to follow later.
